Penrallt Wedding – Rhian & Peter

Rhian & Peter asked me to photograph their Penrallt wedding over a year before their big day but as they live in Australia we only got chance to meet in person two days before the big day. The moment we met I knew they were a very special couple & that this was going to be a very personal & emotional day. These are just the kind of weddings I love to photograph.

The ceremony was at St Dogmaels in Cardigan & it was clear to me by the huge turnout of locals waiting patiently for a glimpse of the bride how well loved and missed Rhian is in the community.

While Rhian & Peter were signing the register a male voice Choir that Rhians father is a member of sang. It was a really lovely moment when he joined them for a song or two while the formalities of the register signing took place. How proud he must have been to sing at his own daughters wedding. The next big surprise was when Craig Yates from Only Men Aloud who is a family friend joined the choir to sing a solo.

I could tell that Rhian was very close to her grandfather and misses him dearly while she is away inAustralia. I wanted to capture a special moment of them together that showed how they felt about each other & as Rhian & Peter left the church as husband and wife  it was her grandfather that Rhian went to first. That picture still brings a tear to my eye.

St Dogmaels is connected to the ruins of  an abbey and it was here that Rhian & Peter led all of their guests to for a glass of champagne on the lawns. On the way back to the Penrhalt we made a slight detour to Cardigan Bay for some natural pictures on the coast.

The Penrhalt is set within its own peaceful 42 acres, it is an impressive Edwardian Mansion overlooking the beautiful Aberporth Bay in West Wales, it’s stunning venue for a wedding and it was here that guests enjoyed the  wedding breakfast before the speeches.

I have to say that although it had been clear how close this family was even with the thousands of miles that are currently between them nothing could have prepared me for the emotional, passionate & heartfelt speeches that would follow. In particular Peters speech which I will remember forever and the moment at the end when he turned to his bride and made a list of promises looking straight into her eyes as if she was the only other person in that room had everyone in that room including me wiping tears away from their eyes

Thank you Rhian & Peter is was a pleasure and a privilege to have photographed your day.
