This was my first Manorbier Castle Wedding & As a documentary wedding photographer I had been looking forward to Sarah and James’s wedding since the moment they described their day to me. James is a very talent musician and their wedding was always going to be all about the music.
Manorbier Castle near Tenby, Pembrokeshire is a stunning location for wedding photography, it has its its very own Chapel and is just a short walk from Manorbier Beach. The Wedding Breakfast and evening entertainment were planned for a marquee at the Castlemead Hotel which is just across the road and all sorts of musical instruments were transported from place to place throughout the day.
Preparations began at Sarah’s uncle’s Bed and Breakfast the Lovesgrove just up the road in Bangeston, Pembroke Dock and all credit to the builders and decorators who worked tirelessly night and day to get the stunning accommodation ready for the guests of the wedding. I will certainly be taking my family back there as soon as the opportunity arises.
Various performances from different musicians and bands were planned at intervals throughout the proceedings and even though James couldn’t resist picking up an instrument and joining each band along the way the real highlight was when he got his former band “We are Trees” together for a reunion as the evenings entertainment.
This was particularly a special moment for me to witness as I have grown up being told the story of how my father did the same with his own band at my parents wedding long before I was born so I was lucky enough to witness first hand how it must have looked. I will always be grateful to James as now know how special it was and how proud my Mother must have been. James danced with his bride for the first time as husband and wife then picked up his bass guitar to join his band mates for an amazing performance that went on long into the night with a perfectly chosen set list of covers from The Doors to The Jam.
As a reportage wedding photographer my aim is to document the day and avoid intrusion or staging photographs and its on weddings like this that I absolutely love my job.
